Rail mounted track sensors positioned at the nominal sighting distance for line speed, detect the movement of traffic. The sensors are key locked to the rail to prevent unintentional removal and a sabotage sensor sets off an alarm within the system if moved. The system is also designed to ‘ Fail- to- safe’ in the event of loss of signal, low batteries or sensors becoming detached from the rail. Set- up time is minimal. A ‘ Remote Unit’ is located trackside within 50 metres of the Track Sensor and picks up the signal relayed by the Sensor. In turn, it sends the signal to the worksite- located ‘ Master Unit’. Detecting a signal from the ‘ Remote Unit’, the ‘ Master Unit’ then sends a signal to the Individual Warning Device ( IWD) worn by each operative and to any Individual Warning Alarms ( IWA) in use on the designated site. The IWD has a vibrating neck piece and also emits an audible warning.
