Aside from apartments, the company's wide- ranging portfolio encompasses hotels, office buildings and shopping centers in Canada and the United States, and the company currently holds in excess of 10,000 acres of land in inventory for future projects. It has also played an important role in the redevelopment of the Britannia Beach area of Vancouver, ahead of the city hosting the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The Capitol Residences project has been developed in conjunction with Wall Financial Corporation, a group renowned for its long- term investment vision, with previous history in the arts sector, having assisted with the restoration of the Stanley Theatre on nearby Granville Street. T he Capitol Residences site can truly claim to have its roots in drama, with the foundations built on the site of a former theater. The 43- story Howard Bingham Hall-designed glass- clad elliptical tower being built there will house 372 residential units and 284 parking spots. It is a striking curved structure, due for completion in the spring of 2011. The site is owned by Vancouver- based Macdonald Development Corporation ( MDC), a private, family-owned company. MDC, established back in 1983, has concentrated on delivering properties to the market with a primary focus on developing family condominium projects and single- family subdivision communities.
