Broadway Livingston Development JANUARY 10 www. bus- ex. com 95 Broadway Livingston Development hopes to open its new apartment building complex in Brooklyn early in 2010. Keith Regan learns that the project's journey through regulatory reviews was a lengthy one, but the final result has the owners eager to build again in the neighborhood tape red T he developers of the Broadway Livingston apartments in downtown Brooklyn, New York, knew when they began planning for the development of their two- building complex in 2007 that among their interested neighbors would be the Metropolitan Transit Authority ( MTA). The MTA, operator of the New York subway system, owned a right- of- way on the property and had plans for a future entrance to the subway on the site. That meant extensive additional plan review and regulatory oversight for the project, from the design stage through construction. The subway entrance is now under construction as the project approaches the finish line, but winning approval for the design took more than 18 months of plan submission, review, revision and additional review. 96 www. bus- ex. com JANUARY 10 |
