The EDGETM only needs a small drop of blood (< 3µl). The test strips have a siphoning action which draws the blood in and then measures using an advanced biosensor specific for lactate concentration in blood. A numeric result is displayed via an easy to read, large LCD screen in less than 45 seconds with both date and time, and the result is comparable to a laboratory reference standard.
